The aims of this course are to give the learner the knowledge and understanding of the following: what a learning disability is; what causes learning disabilities, signs and diagnosis; models of disability; the historical context of learning disability and relevant legislation and guidance; key changes; how to support individuals by promoting independence and communication; how to support health and wellbeing; safeguarding risks
