Evac chair training

An evacuation chair often called an evac chair is a specially designed, lightweight mobility device used to safely transport individuals down staircases during an emergency. It is equipped with wheels, stair tracks, safety belts, and an ergonomic frame that allows a trained operator to help someone with reduced mobility evacuate a building quickly and with minimal physical strain

Overview

By the end of the course, learners will:

  • Understand the purpose and function of an Evac Chair within emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Recognise your legal and organisational responsibilities relating to the safe evacuation of mobility-impaired individuals.
  • Gain knowledge of the key components, safety features, and correct setup of an Evac Chair.
  • Develop the practical skills needed to operate the chair safely, including correct handling, positioning, and stair descent techniques.
  • Learn how to conduct basic risk assessments before and during evacuation.
  • Build confidence in assisting individuals safely and calmly during emergency situations.

Duration

Assesment

The online assessment is taken on completion of the training material. You will be asked 20 multiple choice questions with a pass mark of 100%. The answers are marked automatically so you will instantly know whether you have passed. If you don’t pass don’t worry! You can take the test as many times as you need with no extra charge.
