Overview

Take a recurring task from your own department as the starting point. Building Custom GPTs and AI Agents explores how to shape an assistant around that task and judge whether its output meets the brief. The emphasis is on purposeful creation that has a place in real work. A research request or an internal support need provides a concrete reason to learn. Participants explore configuration and organisational knowledge, then consider how testing reveals what still needs refinement before wider use.

Repeatedly explaining the same requirements to an AI tool can make its usefulness depend on the person operating it. An assistant designed for a specific purpose offers an opportunity to make those requirements more explicit. Course Content and Learning Outcomes

The curriculum gives participants a route through design and evaluation. Areas of study include:

  • The foundations of generative AI and large language models. Distinguish the purposes of custom GPTs and AI agents.
  • Configuring assistants for particular tasks and applying prompt engineering. Incorporate business documents and other knowledge sources.
  • Developing agents to support workflows and identifying worthwhile applications. Assess how a proposed solution fits the work it is intended to support.
  • Testing outputs and refining the user experience. Examine privacy and security alongside the legal and ethical considerations of deployment.

Duration and Delivery

The learning takes approximately 2 to 3 hours and is delivered through online material with full audio voiceover. It can be scheduled as a focused development session for employees exploring practical AI applications. The program can also be modified as for its title and content to student requirements.

Assessment and Completion

A final set of 20 multiple-choice questions checks understanding of the material. Every answer must be correct for a pass. Results are generated automatically on submission; repeated attempts are permitted without a further assessment fee.
