Course Content and Learning Outcomes

  • Explain where PPE sits in the hierarchy of control and why law treats it as the last resort rather than the first response.
  • Identify the duty holders under CDM 2015 and the PPE at Work Regulations, including who counts as a worker after the 2022 amendment.
  • Select head, eye, face, hearing, hand, foot, body and respiratory protection that matches a stated construction task, using product markings and measured exposure rather than habit.
  • Evaluate the compatibility of items worn together and the effect of fit, facial hair, sizing and wearing time on the protection actually achieved.
  • Justify the place of respiratory protective equipment in a silica strategy that leads with water suppression and on-tool extraction.
  • Apply inspection, storage, records and replacement regimes to helmets, gloves, respirators and fall arrest harnesses across their service life.
  • Distinguish the circumstances attracting an improvement notice from those attracting a prohibition notice, and explain the charging rules that apply to PPE.

Duration and Delivery

The course is offered online and can be completed in nearly 2 to 3 hours. Its short, flexible structure makes it appropriate for staff training without substantial distraction to daily activities. Assessment and Completion
